Unity – Preparing the project for Play Store publishing

In order to publish the game to the Play Store we need to prepare it in certain way.

I won’t cover the Play Store publishing instruction, this is about how to make the project file so that Play Store is happy with our game.

This instruction is for beginners and doesn’t contain adds.

First we need to tick Build App Bundle in Build Settings:

Next we should open Player Settings…

Type your info at the very top:

In publishing settings we need to create a new key store and set Release option.

It is very important to save the key store and the password in order to update the app in the future. Do not loose it.

In other settings tab we need to change Scripting Backend to be able to build a file in 32 and 64 bit mode and tick both options available.

It’s pretty much essential to add API OpenGLES2 so that tablets and older devices are compatible with our game:

At the end we can press Build button to create a file which is compatible with Play Store requirements.

In order to update application it is needed to increase Bundle Version Code.

It’s worth to note, that those settings won’t let you to transfer the app to the android device through the usb cable.

You would have to disable Custom keystore and untick Build App Bundle.

  1. Link exchange is nothing else except it is only placing the other person’s
webpage link on your page at proper place and other
person will also do similar for you.
